About the Event
Winter still seems to be in its dormancy, but the soil is already awakening and preparing for spring. Join Yesod to mark Tu BiShvat (the 15th day of the month of Shvat), which has been a time to be in relationship with trees and their produce for millennia. This event is designed for families with children 4 and up, but all ages are welcome.
We will connect with our trees through song, exploration, harvest, and by keeping warm beside a fire.
Weather Keep an eye on the weather and dress accordingly. Yesod is in a different micro-climate than Asheville, so prepare for it to be colder/windier/wetter here than it is at home. We will cancel for extreme weather, including strong winds.
Bring water, closed-toed shoes (we recommend rain boots for kids!), clothing that can get dirty, any snacks you'll need, and a mask in case we need to get close to one another. There will be stumps and folding chairs to sit on, but if you have a chair that works best for you, you're invited to bring it.
Address and parking directions will be sent in an email once you register. Due to limited parking, we recommend carpooling.
Accessibility
Environment
We will be in a wooded area with lots of shade and little sun. We will gather twice around a fire--we try our best to keep the fire minimally smoky but smoke does happen. Yesod will provide stumps, mats and folding chairs to sit in, but feel free to bring a chair that works better for you. There may be loud noises from neighbors. Being in nature, there may be different creatures and other hazards. We recommend having your little ones with you the whole time that they are here.
Pathways
The short pathway to our gathering spot is not accessible to strollers, wheelchairs, or walkers and is a one-minute walk. We will be wandering in the woods along unpaved, potentially muddy, pathways. If it hasn't rained in 2 days, some off-road strollers can make it. Please reach out to info@yesodfarm.org with questions.
COVID
Please stay home if you are not feeling well or if you have been exposed to someone with symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID in the past 10 days. We ask that everyone brings their own mask. We will also have surgical masks available. Everyone will be wearing a mask when working in close proximity to someone else. Individuals can choose how close/distanced they sit from others when around the fire circle.
