About the Event
PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required. All attendees must wear a face mask the whole time you're at Yesod Farm+Kitchen for this event.
Tonight's event is specifically for queer and trans folks. Please respect this space by only attending if you identify as queer/trans. Most of Yesod's events are open to everyone -- you can find others here.
Simchat Torah is a joyous holiday that follows Sukkot. Festivities celebrate a new cycle of Torah readings. Many Jewish communities have a custom of dancing with a Torah on Simchat Torah. We won't have a Torah physically present at this event, but we'll dance in that spirit.
We welcome your song requests! Email info@yesodfarm.org to add a song to the playlist.
You're invited to show up 7:30pm or later. (Not earlier, please, because your hosts will be observing Shabbat and unavailable to greet you until 7:30pm.) If you'd like to participate in havdalah, we'd love to include you in this short and accessible ritual for ending Shabbat at 7:45pm. The dance party will be 8:00-10:00pm.
Between rounds of dancing, community members are invited to share a 2-3 minute teaching or reading about the holiday or season. This is low pressure, it can be spontaneous and doesn't need to be polished! And it's completely optional.
You can choose between grape juice and wine at the havdalah ritual. There may also be alcohol at the dance party. Please let us know if you have needs around being in a space where there is alcohol.
Please RSVP on Yesod's website.
Accessibility: The ground is unpaved. A composting toilet for your use is available. Please email info@yesodfarm.org with accessibility requests and questions.
