About the Event

Tickets/RSVPs open 4 weeks prior to the event (2/25). You will receive our address upon registration.

Come to Yesod Farm+Kitchen on Sunday, March 17, 1-4pm, for a volunteer day as we plant potatoes and poppies! Both crops have been valued for their use in food and medicine by many Jewish communities across the world.

As we approach the Jewish holiday of Purim, come learn about and plant poppyseeds – one of the most popular flavors in Purim treats from Persian nan-e berenji to Ashkenazi hamentaschen.

Potatoes are a comfort food and staple for many. We will share stories of familial and Jewish cultural relationships to potatoes. Together we will prepare the soil, dig ditches, and plant potatoes.

This event is outdoors and distanced, but please **bring a mask** in case there are times where we need to be in closer proximity.

All are welcome. This includes families, folks of diverse abilities, and any religious background. There will be tasks for all ages and abilities.

More details to come!

ACCESSIBILITY

There are flat, unpaved, wide walkways in the field. We have some shade structures and chairs. There is a composting toilet and a cold water handwashing station in the field, a few minutes of flat walking from where we'll be working. Please email info@yesodfarm.org with any accessibility requests and questions.

COVID

Please stay home if you are not feeling well or if you have been exposed to someone with symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID in the past 10 days. We ask that everyone brings their own mask. We will also have surgical masks available. Individuals can choose how close/distanced they are from each other throughout the event.

TICKETS

Please reserve 1 ticket per guest. This event is free, and we welcome donations to support Yesod Farm+Kitchen. We encourage BIPOC to sign up for free tickets, and white community members to make a personally meaningful contribution, if you’re able. We also encourage you to join Yesod in making a donation to the Reparations Stakeholder Authority of Asheville (RSAA).
