About the Event

The Jewish calendar has a New Year for the Animals called Rosh Hashanah La’Behemot. In honor of this day, Yesod Farm+Kitchen is excited to announce that we're getting chickens and goats soon!

Join us for a Farm-to-Table dinner and help support our animal care fund. We will tour the barn, chicken tractor, and rainwater catchment system, learn about the animals and how to be involved, and enjoy a celebratory Farm-to-Table dinner together on the farm's lawn.

Tickets are for sale until Wednesday, August 24.

We are excited to offer 4 different options of main course, to accommodate varying dietary needs:

Chicken Soup (GF, DF) made with neighbor's chickens that our farm crew lovingly slaughtered with a blessing and a sharp knife, as well as an array of farm produce. These chickens did not undergo a fully kosher shechting. If you prefer kosher meat, see the option below. Clarifying questions? Email info@yesodfarm.org

Sweet and Sour Lamb Stew (GF, DF) made with cabbage, garlic, carrot, and tomatoes grown at Yesod Farm + Kitchen in 5781, as well as kosher slaughtered, pasture-raised lamb from Kol Foods.

Vegetable Quiche (vegetarian and dairy free, can be GF upon request) made with eggs from a neighbor's farm, produce from Yesod Farm + Kitchen, and from our neighboring farms.

Vegan option, TBD.

Dinner will also include salad, spaghetti squash*, dairy-free elderberry* ice cream, herbal ice tea*, and wine.

(*=ingredients grown at Yesod Farm+Kitchen)

Please indicate any dietary restrictions you have on your registration form.

6:00-6:30pm Tour

6:30-8:00pm Dinner

Please dress for the weather, and bring a mask (mask required for entering the barn and for getting food from the buffet line). While there are far fewer mosquitos at Yesod than there are in the city of Asheville, we still recommend wearing long sleeves and pants or wearing bug spray.

In Case Of Rain we will cancel this event. Please check your email the day of the event – we will send a message by 2pm if we are canceling. Since this is a fundraising event, we are not able to provide refunds in case of cancelation, but will have packaged dinners available for pick up and will follow up about other opportunities to tour the space.

Accessibility:

Tour: There is an uphill walk from the parking spot to the barn. There is a 1-2 inch threshold to get into the barn from the pathway. The main route to the barn includes crossing a wooden bridge and walking on uneven ground, but there is also mowed pathway that is relatively even.

Dinner: There is an uphill walk from the parking spot to the dinner venue, with closer parking available. We will be eating on a mowed lawn that is not perfectly flat. We will provide folding chairs for seating. If you have a chair that works better for you, you are welcome to bring it. There is no shade at the dinner venue.

Dietary Restrictions: You will have the opportunity to share your dietary restrictions with us on your registration form. Yesod staff will be serving the food to limit the chance of cross-contamination. We will follow up with any questions we have, and please feel free to email us if you have concerns about your dietary needs being met.

COVID: You will have a chance to provide us with your preference for seating distance on your registration form. Everyone is required to wear a mask when getting food. Food will be served by the farm crew, who will be wearing masks and ensuring there is no cross-contamination. We will have all barn doors and windows open for the tour, but it is still an indoor space and we require everyone to wear a mask.

Bathrooms and handwashing are available. Please email info@yesodfarm.org with accessibility requests and questions.
