About the Event
Celebrate Purim at Yesod Farm + Kitchen!
Gather with us around the fire and listen to Justin Goldstein chant his translation of Megilat Esther (the Book of Esther) in English!
Please arrive at 7pm. The story will begin promptly at 7:30.
The holiday of Purim falls on (the night before) the full moon preceding Spring Equinox. It is a playful holiday with chaotic energy (up is down, down is up -- things are not as they seem). Many Jews celebrate Purim by reading Megilat Esther (the Book of Esther), dressing up in costumes, having a feast, delivering food baskets to neighbors, giving gifts to people in need of support, and putting on plays translating the story of Esther into modern day socio-political commentary.
CLOTHES: Costumes are encouraged, as are warm clothes. Please bring a mask in case we need to be close to one another.
FOOD AND DRINK: We will not be serving dinner at this event, so please come fed. There will be tea available (bringing your own mug is a huge help) and feel free to bring snacks.
COVID: This event will be outdoors. Folks can manage keeping distance from one another or can be close and wear a mask. We ask that everyone be respectful of each other's needs and requests as we continue to navigate sharing space and building community together during a global pandemic.
PARKING: Please park at the culvert on Kirstein Road by Garren Creek. From there, you'll walk up the driveway at 20 Kirstein road. At the fork, veer uphill. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see a brick house. We will be on the lawn behind the house and there will be someone to guide you there.
COST: The event is free. Yesod welcomes donations on a voluntary basis.
ACCESSIBLE PARKING: There is limited accessible parking available up by the house. (Follow the same directions as above, but with your car).
ACCESS: We will be on a grassy lawn. There will be folding chairs provided and you are welcome to bring your own. There is a composting toilet and handwashing sink available a one minute walk from the fire pit. The fire may be smoky so plan accordingly if you are sensitive to smoke. We do not currently plan on amplifying sound.
Please reach out to info@yesodfarm.org with any questions or needs related to access, or anything else
