Lag BaOmer

Lag BaOmer literally means the 33rd day of the Omer. This holiday is seen as a midway stop and a celebration on our count between Passover (liberation) and Shavuot (revelation). Jews view the Omer and Lag BaOmer in many different ways, and it’s popular to attend a festive gathering around a bonfire.

This spring, we’re in the process of transitioning our field. As Jewish farmers, we’re moving land from the liberation of shmita fallowness to the revelation of ecologically-mindful vegetable production to feed the human community. Come share in the work and celebrate Lag BaOmer on the farm. We will prepare the field for summer planting and spend time together around a fire.

Join us for farming in the field 4:00-6:30pm. Then head up the hill to eat dinner around a fire 7:00-9:00pm. Please bring your own dinner and utensils. Yesod will provide a pumpkin-cowpea curry (vegan and gluten-free), along with bread (not gf) and tea.

To volunteer in the field, bring water, sun and rain protection, good shoes, clothes to get dirty in, and any snacks you might need. We will provide gloves and tools, but feel free to bring your own as well.

All ages are welcome. This includes families, folks of diverse abilities, and any religious background.

Please come for whatever amount of time works for you.

Accessibility: There are flat, unpaved, wide walkways in the field. A composting toilet for your use is located in the field. Please email info@yesodfarm.org with accessibility requests and questions.

COVID: This event is outdoors and distanced, but please **bring a mask** in case there are times where we need to be in closer proximity.

Weather: This event is outdoors. In case of severe weather, we may cancel. You will receive an email by 10am the morning of the event in case of cancellation.
