About the Event

If we need to reschedule for rain, we will send an email to all registrants on Wednesday morning. The rain date is Wednesday 7/17 4-7pm (4-6 harvest, 6-7 dinner)

Come to Yesod Farm+Kitchen on Thursday, July 18, 5-7pm, for a volunteer day as we harvest potatoes ! Stick around from 7-8 for a simple farm-to-table dinner (including french fries from potatoes grown last year!).

Potatoes are a comfort food and staple for many. We will share stories of familial and Jewish cultural relationships to potatoes. Together we will dig up 2 varieties of potato: russets and purple magesty.

This event is outdoors and distanced, but please **bring a mask** in case there are times where we need to be in closer proximity.

All are welcome. This includes families, folks of diverse abilities, and any religious background. There will be tasks for all ages and abilities.

5-7pm Harvest and learning

7-8pm Dinner

We're excited to share the menu, which has GF, DF, Vegan options and features many ingredients from the farm!

French Fries Russet potatoes from last year tossed in olive oil, cornstarch, and spices.

Squash soup Candy roaster squash, apples, sage, and garlic all from last year's harvest.

GF cornbread muffins featuring eggs, goat cheese, and garlic scapes from the farm.

Beans throwback, grown in 2021 but still good to eat! They'll be cooked with chilis, onion, garlic, and carrots also grown at the farm.

There are flat, unpaved, wide walkways in the field. We have some shade structures and chairs. There is a composting toilet and a cold water handwashing station in the field, a few minutes of flat walking from where we'll be working. Please email with any accessibility requests and questions.

Dinner location TBD but will be on mowed grass with various seating available.

Please indicate any dietary restrictions that you have when RSVPing. We can accomodate most dietary needs if given 36 hours notice and will do our best with last minute RSVPs.

Please stay home if you are not feeling well or if you have been exposed to someone with symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID in the past 10 days. We ask that everyone brings their own mask. We will also have surgical masks available. Individuals can choose how close/distanced they are from each other throughout the event.

Please reserve 1 ticket per guest. This event is free, and we welcome donations to support Yesod Farm+Kitchen. We encourage BIPOC to sign up for free tickets, and white community members to make a personally meaningful contribution, if you’re able. We also encourage you to join Yesod in making a donation to the Reparations Stakeholder Authority of Asheville (RSAA).
