About the Event
Don’t You Feel It Too? is a contemplative and behavioral art form. It is the practice of dancing your inner nature in public. Everyone can do this simple and beautiful practice. It’s a way to bring our whole selves to liberation and relationship.
Marcus Young 楊墨 and other artists in Mni Sota began creating Don’t You Feel It Too? in 2008. They’ve given consent for Asher Edes, who practiced it there, to facilitate a session here at Yesod Farm+Kitchen.
How to prepare:
- Bring a portable music player (like a phone) that can fit in your pocket or clip to your clothing, and head/earphones that stay on well when you dance or move.
- Ahead of time, have ready a few songs that really move you, music you love.
- Wear close-toed shoes and clothes you can move in.
- Bring water to drink, and anything else you need to be outside in this weather (sunscreen, hat, etc.)
We will be outdoors for 2 hours. You will be encouraged to rest and take care of yourself. This practice usually involves listening to music, standing, and physically moving. We can adapt those or other aspects of the practice so that you can participate. There is some poison oak and other plants you could be allergic too; you might want to wear long pants to protect your legs. The bathroom available is a composting toilet which unfortunately is not wheelchair-accessible. The surface where we will be moving is grass; if concrete would be more accessible for you, let us know in advance and we can arrange it. Feel welcome to bring up other access needs by email in advance or at the event.
We welcome your questions. Feel free to email email@example.com. If you are writing us an email, please send it by May 27, otherwise we might not see your message in time to reply before this event.
Participation is free. We ask that you RSVP in advance, if possible.
